Pienza is a jewel of a town sitting between Montalcino and Montepulciano in southern Tuscany. Famous for pecorino cheese and the birthplace of Pope Piccolomini it is a wonderfully preserved Tuscan town.
Walking along the streets is a pleasure (provided there are not too many tourists). The town has many great boutique shops.
Great viewing over the Val D’Orcia from the walls of the town.
